Teaching starts with a compassionate and energetic person. My experiences started in high school, when I decided to choose education as my career. I spent 4 years at West Chester University where I learned about the foundation of education and how to become an amazing professional. College gave me experience working with first graders in challenging atmospheres. I learned to be flexible, yet organized when teaching young children. I believe that the children should steer their own learning, as well as providing them with the information that will allow them to progress. Flexibility comes in handy at this point. I also taught 2nd grade which taught me how to work with students who are beginning to write stories and learning to complete more complicated math problems. I learned how to teach across the curriculum and incorporate technology into my classroom. While continuing my education and working towards a Master’s in Special Education, I have learned how to teach children depending on their individual learning styles. I pay special attention to children who need support, whether it’s to be more challenged or to encourage a struggling learner. I have had experience working with the special needs population while replacing a teacher during a medical leave as a Basic Skills Instructor. The children who needed extra support in reading and math were taught specific skills to help them succeed.
Most sincerely yours,
